2018-2024 Accomplishments

Since elected in 2018 I am proud of the following accomplishments of the town council and town:

1.      Restored professionalism and respectful decorum to the council.

2.      Increased funding for education for then any other RI municipality (on a % basis).

3.      Restored and made our historic town hall operational.

4.     Appointed qualified professionals and environments to town boards and commissions.

5.      Town Financial reserves increased 80% increase since I was elected.

6.      6 years in a row of a balanced budget with a surplus.

7.      Attained a AA+ Bond Rating for the town during my tenure.

8.   Established a homestead tax exemption for town residents.

9. Renovated our Town Beach, McGinn Park, and Wilson Park including a new splashpad and courts for Wilson Park.

10.   Planned improvements for Yorktown Park and Playground .

12.   The council unanimously approved amendment to our zoning ordinances to allow a residential apartment complex adjacent to the Wickford Junction train station to move forward.

13.   Hired retired Superior Court judge Susan McGuirl to review the findings of the school committee’s investigation into the fat testing scandal.

14.   Implementation of a police bike patrol.

15.   Return to a four-platoon system for our fire department.

16.   Government Finance Officer Ass’n (GFOA) Budget Award for town financial accomplishments

17.   Restoration of Gilbert Stuart Road Bridge and allocated millions of dollars for road paving through the town.

18.   New Trash and Recycling Receptacles throughout Wickford and Wilson Park.

19.   Moved forward with selling the Wickford Elementary School.

20.   Remote Net Metering project providing utility savings to the town.

21.   QDC Pilots providing millions of tax dollars to our town and providing thousands of jobs to Rhode Islanders.

22.   Improvements to Golf Course infrastructure making it a profitable venture in town and leading to one of the busiest golf courses in all of New England.

23.   Fully manned Ladder Truck.

24.   Increased Affordable Housing availability.

25.   Upcoming pedestrian and flooding improvements to waterfront municipal parking lot.

26. Increased commercial tax revenue from Quonset PILOT agreements.

 2024 and Beyond

 If re-elected, I will :

  1. Continue to vote to support education, maintain our town infrastructure/services/parks, improve our police/fire and school facilities, particularly at the middle school level, renovate Yorktown Park, while being mindful of adverse tax implicagtions,

  2. Continue to address local climate change challenges, try to protect our environment,

  3. Lobby the state to address Route 4 traffic challenges, try to make our roads safe, and expand our commercial tax base in existing designated commercial areas.
